She created a better future

CEO Commentary by Mike McMorris

Like most, I was shocked to hear of the passing of Jean Szkotnicki. She simply seemed too great a force to be taken.

Jean was one of those folks that stayed curious about the world and its potential. Her career leaves many examples of her curiosity leading to impactful change for the better. Jean clearly understood that making change is all about people, knowing where they were coming from and the various perspectives they held about the same challenge or opportunity. That ability to see things through a very human lens allowed her to make progress in so many ways.

I was thrilled when Jean came onto the Board of Directors at LRIC. She always made an impact and her time with LRIC was no different. As an LRIC Director, like she did in life, she approached everything with candour and respect.

Jean leaves a legacy of impactful positive change. Only a year ago we celebrated her honourary Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Ontario Veterinary College for her significant work with Canadian Animal Health Institute.

We can all learn valuable lessons from her example as we, too, seek to create a better future.
