Reducing iodine levels in milk

Dr. David Kelton of the University of Guelph is leading work to reduce iodine levels in milk. In collaboration with the Ontario Geological Survey and the University of Ottawa, his team is trying to establish whether cows’ drinking water may be an important iodine source. The Great Lakes were formerly a much larger inland sea filled with seaweed and iodine-rich deposits were left behind.
