Premium welfare system launched in Denmark
Category : Pork
The Danish parliament has approved a new three-star welfare label for pork. Consumers will be able to choose how much they’re prepared to pay for pig welfare on the basis of one star for “good”, two stars for “better” and three stars for “best”. The system is a partnership between government, welfare agencies, the Danish Agriculture and Food Council, meat processor Danish Crown, a large national butchers’ association and four retailers.
